Ayutthaya Historical Park is an agency that maintains the historical site in the area of Amphoe Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Ayutthaya Province which is a location of the old greatest capital as Krungsri Ayutthaya. It consists of over 300 historical sites includes the island area with three surrounding rivers, i.e. Chao Phraya River, Pa Sak River, and Lopburi River as well as the surrounding area of island includes the historical site likes palace, religion place, ancient bridge, ancient trade center and also the trail of expat community.
Krungsri Ayutthaya has begun to play a role in the late 19th century Buddha. The evidence has specified that King Ramathibodi I (King U-Thong) established Krungsri Ayutthaya in 1893 B.E. After that, Ayutthaya Empire extended the territory along the various rivers as well as the southern coastal territory. There are 34 kings to govern the territory until the end of it by an invasion of the nearby territory in 2310 B.E. before King Taksin moved the city center to Krungthonburi. It results in Ayutthaya Empire has stayed long about 417 years. Until Rattanakosin Period, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) pleased to preserve the land inside the island to be a public domain and also Phraya Boran Ratchathanin, Intendant of the ancient Ayutthaya to excavate the area of ancient palace.

It was the beginning of the area preservation of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The Fine Arts Department has begun an exploration and registration of the important historical site of Ayutthaya since 2478 B.E. and begun a reconstruction of these historical sites like Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit and Wat Phra Si Sanphet in 2499 B.E. In addition, it had an establishment of Ayutthaya Historical Park Project in 2525 B.E. for preserving the area of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya ancient site systematically and continuously.
Until 13th December 2434 B.E., the areas of important historical site of Ayutthaya were announced to be a world heritage in the name of “Historic City of Ayutthaya” by UNESCO
At present, the areas of Historic City of Ayutthaya and other historical sites of Ayutthaya has been preserving and developing. The Ayutthaya Historical Park and the Fine Arts Department are main agencies to maintain these areas.
