Wat Si Sawai is located in the south side of Wat Mahathat, near the southern city wall of Sukhothai. It consists of three Lopburi-style Prang influenced by Khmer style. These Prang are quite slender shape, situated on the low base with a pattern of Yuan chinaware on its. The Narai Bantomsin lintel, part of graven image and Shiva linga were found here. There are two connecting viharn in the frontal part of Prang. All of these ancient sites are surrounded by laterite wall.
In 1907, King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) of Rattanakosin, who was still the crown prince at that time visited Wat Si Sawai and found Phra Isuan statue inside of the viharn. This temple was assumed to be the Brahmin Shrine, and afterwards changed to the Buddhist temple.
