Tra Phang Thong Temple is an archaeological site located in the eastern area of city rampart of the current Ramkhamheng National Museum, on an island in a reservior called “Tra Pang Thong” situated a main bell-shaped stupa with laterites base. Its upper surrounding structures of the main stupa is constructed with bricks and circled with 8 small pagodas. A chapel of this temple was renovated around the past 100 years by Phaya Ronachaichanyuth (Krut), a Sukhothai governor. The renovation was done on the site of old chapel in the Sukhothai age, and was reconstructed again in 2548 B.E (2005).
The significant archaeological places in the temple are Budda’s Foot Prints in Sukhothai age, located on Sumonakud hill, engraved with 108 items of auspicious things, constructed by Phramaharajalithai in the year 1902 B.E. (1359). The foot print is currently moved from Kao Prabat Yai to be installed at Tra Pang Thong temple.
