Sa Mon

Sa Mon of the ancient palace was pinned at north side of Wat Phra Kaew and nearly adjacent to the north city wall. At the palace area, there is a rectangular moat with a square pond dug at the center called Sa Mon. After the investigation for this area, many laterite bases and roof tiles were scatteringly found on the ground. In addition, the shatters of potteries, chinawares and celadon wares from Sukhothai were discovered here. It is believed that this palace was constructed with wood and previously owned by Kamphaeng Phet governor in Ayutthaya period. At this point, there are none of any building trails to see.
